Shounen Onmyouji Musical

Yesterday, my sis and I went to the Shounen Onmyouji musical at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro.
I thought it was pretty good for its budget.  Tho, I wouldn't say it's as elaborate as say Tenimyu or Bleachmyu ( and of course nothing can compare to the greatness of NarutoMyu).  There just wasn't any huge jaw-dropping numbers.  But it was still entertaining none the less.  I think if you already know the story, you can especially enjoy this show.

I thought Ueda Keisuke  was cute as Masahiro and Anna who played Mokkun was a really great singer.  Juri played Guren really well, unfortunately Guren was barely onstage aside from fight scenes mostly.  Seimei was funny just wish they had more of young Seimei. And I actually didn't mind the stage version of Akiko.  She can sing pretty decently.  There was a group of inept onmyouji who were the comic relief...the youngest one in yellow I noticed couldn't dance worth unko, he was so stiff. But the rest of the cast, Shinoda, Yoh and  Nemoto included were pretty good.  And Rikugo was so cool!  Unfortunately, Seiryuu's outfit doesn't quite translate too well in real life.  (Either that or the actor who played Seiryuu just doesn't have the body to pull it off.  And not to be superficial but I noticed his legs weren't as good as Juri's.  Juri looked perfectly find in his outfit but Seiryuu's actor just looked ridiculous.:p)

The fight scenes were awesome.  I loved the music for them.  I kept thinking it must've been hard for Rikugo and Seiryuu's actors to carry their weapons and swing them around without hitting someone.  They handled them really well.

I was surprised that there was no intermission.
I wonder if the director just couldn't figure out what scenes to cut and just decided out with the intermission.:p

I liked the songs in the show.  Especially the Masahiro and Mokkun song.
There were a lot of cute scenes.  I especially liked whenever Mokkun would talk about how he believes Masahiro will become a great onmyouji.^o^

Overall, I really enjoyed the show. ^o^
I guess the next show to look forward to is Haruka's Maihitoyo and I might check out Vie Durant, too.
Honestly, it's like everything's becoming a play or musical these days.

Maybe when I go to Japan I'll have to check out a musical or two? Sounds like you had a lot of fun!

I really want to check other musicals when I'm there, last (and only) musical I've seen was Burimyu, D8.

And I certainly want to check Shonen Onmyouji out, thanks to you! ;D

I think Vie Durant is just a play. But yeah all these plays coming up. It can be hard to keep up.

I enjoyed it a lot too! Although the consensus in the group I was with was that there could have been more Masahiro/Guren fanservice. Mokkun was fantastic, and I hope we'll see a lot more great roles for her in the future. She and Seimei were the best actors, I thought. But I liked everyone else too.
