Om Shanti Om: I love Bollywood cameos!

Took a break from my event report and from JLPT studying to watch Om Shanti Om.
Man this movie is awesome. It's so funny.
Actually, it has every genre element you could want: comedy, romance, drama, horror, suspense, action. It's just another enjoyable Sharukh Khan movie. Deepika Padukone plays his leading heroine and she did a pretty good job for her debut role. She is also really beautiful as actress Shanti Priya. No wonder she's a model in real life.

As for the plot:

Well in short, It starts of in the 70s and it's about Om Prakash Makhija who is a junior actor in Bollywood waiting to someday land his very own superhero leading role. His friend advises him to change his name as it's just not Bollywood enough. It's not the name of a Bollywood star. If he wants to make it big he's gotta add something like Kapoor to his name. Of course, Om's mom is totally against a name change.

Om has a huge crush on famous actress Shanti Priya. As fate would have it, he finally gets to meet her and the two share some moments. But, Priya is secretly married to famous producer Mukesh. She is also pregnant with his baby. When Mukesh learns about the pregnancy, he is upset as it could put a halt to his career. He decides to kill Shanti and traps her into a burning studio set. Om found Shanti and tried to save her but the blast from the fire throws him out of the building. She dies in the blaze. Om who is badly injured gets back up but is hit by a car owned by Bollywood superstar, Rakesh Kapoor who was rushing his pregnant wife to the hospital.

At the hospital, Om is prounounced dead and Rakesh's baby is born. 30 years later, we see that Om was reincarnated as Om Kapoor, son of Rakesh Kapoor. Now he is living all of the dreams he had as Om Prakash and is a huge superstar. Once he regains all his memories, his main goal is vengance for Shanti.

About 31 Bollywood actors made special guest apperances in this movie.  Among them, Kajol, Rani Mukerjhi, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Salman Kahn, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, Rakesh Roshan,  Gauri Kahn, and many more. The song "Deewangi Deewangi" where most of them appeared in was during this huge party scene and it was awesome.  The actors/actresses who danced with Om in this scene actually did trademark dances/gestures related to previous themes they had done with Sharukh in the past.

One of my favorites was the part with Kajol!!  They did a reference to Anjali and Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with the high fives and the nose touching...so cute!!  They also played the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai melody when they were showing Om Kapoor's nominated films during the filmfare award ceremony.
