The Tears...T___T
How much of Itachi Madara/Tobi's words should I trust?

I just read 20 chapters of the latest Naruto and finally I'm all caught up again!
I basically cried through 13 chapters.
Oh man...and the rollercoaster that was.

And then there was this last chapter with Shikamaru and Naruto! ;___;

If you've read my previous comments about Naruto and Itachi, you'll know I've always liked and believed in Itachi.
No matter what bad things he was involved in, I believed he had an ulterior motive that would sooner or later come to light and show the world that he is actually a good guy.

But then, I can't believe myself.  I was actually fooled by Itachi.
Somewhere in the middle of his final fight with Sasuke, my belief in Itachi wavered.
It was the whole issue about the eyes.

I didn't wanna believe it but the look in Itachi's eyes when he talked of how he wanted to rip Sasuke's eyes out and take them for his own power...that was what fooled me and made me feel that yes Sasuke needs to defeat Itachi.

But then again, once again in the midst of the Itachi-kyoudai fight, I realized there was something wrong.
And I knew Itachi was holding back.  I knew his mumbling meant something and that THAT poke to the forehead meant something.
And my heartache when Itachi died at his brother's feet.

Of course that wasn't the end.  I still didn't know exactly why Itachi did all he did.
But now that Madara has revealed the truth about Uchiha Itachi, I'm even more moved by his story.
He is very much like Raikou in Nabari no Ou.
If only Itachi could've been alive when Sasuke found out the truth.  T___T

Thank goodness Itachi got to Naruto before he went to meet Sasuke.
I just wish he could've told Naruto the truth, too.

Sasuke's new Taka organization...I know he wants to avenge his brother.
But really he needs to realize that that's not what his brother would've wanted.
It would totally be going against what he fought so hard to protect and carried such a heavy burden for.

That's why I'm not sure how much of Tobi's story was the truth.  Was there something left out? Or did he twist some part of the Konoha story?  Ahhh...I have no idea.><  I wanna know more.

I guess both Naruto and Sasuke are going through similar experiences now with their grief and all.
But so far in all of Naruto, I think Uchiha's has been the most touching for me.  I cried so much.  And oh how my heartached.
I'll have to check out the anime version once it's out.

Anyhow, chin up Naruto! Leave it to Shikamaru for some wise words of wisdom!
Become stronger and become a kickass shinobi and crack Jiraiya's code!!

Itachi Madara's story about the Uchiha was definitely tailored for Sasuke, but I think he was right about Itachi. If you go back and re-read the way they interact or other flashback chapters, you can see the foreshadowing. Plus, as you said, the way Itachi acted in the fight fits the "double agent" narrative as well. And then there's that Itachi gave Naruto some of his power...

Itachi and Jiraiya are two of my favorite characters, so I've been crying a lot with the manga lately. ;_____;

Yeah, I think the Itachi part was true. But I'm not sure about how much about the Konoha being the bad guys is true. Tho, I'm sure a good portion of it is true like the 3rd hokage being hesitant about Itachi leaving and trying to negotiate peace, I don't think he would've made that up...but I wonder if he embellished the story a bit just to ensure Sasuke would team up with him and help him get his revenge on them.

Man, why can't Sasuke just get revenge on the elders and leave the rest of Konoha in peace.

Yeah, Jiraiya's death had me in tears, too...esp. the part with Minato.
And today, just thinking about Itachi and all he's done for Sasuke, made me feel like crying. I hope Kakashi can survive till the end of Naruto. But I think Naruto's death would be the only thing that could make me cry more than I did for Itachi's.

I wasn't too much of a fan of itachi but assuming what tobi said is pretty much true XO I really do feel for Itachi... but while reading the fight I was hoping all along for sasuke to win >.> and when he finally did it I felt kinda relieved Itachi died instead of sasuke but then now that sasuke is like going to take revenge on the leaf vil... don't quite know what to think of him lol... Interesting to see what tobi has done... as more of the plot unfolds... like will sasuke realise what he's doing is totally not what itachi wants...

Somehow I refuse to believe Jiraiya is dead D: he just fell to the bottom of the pond... didn't quite say he died yet XP

I hope Sasuke will realize that attacking the village is the opposite of what Itachi wanted. And tell me he'll come to his senses and realize that Itachi wanted to protect him from Madara not just because he didn't want him to find out the truth. But perhaps he'll never see the light until Naruto flashes it in front of his very eyes.

Now that I think about it, it is possible that Jiraiya could've survived. We shall see i guess.

i personally can't bring myself to trust both itachi and madara

Really? I can understand Madara because I can't completely trust him either. Especially since I know he's simply playing on Sasuke's emotions and using him.

But why not Itachi?

why not? well, it is because his hiding of the whole thing since the past has caused sasuke so much pain. even now, he is still not telling the truth to sasuke. even till his death, his way of protecting sasuke has put sasuke in more dangers. my theory is as easy as liars are not to be trusted
