The Youka Nitta Scandal

So I was perusin' my FL when I read news about the Youka Nitta Scandal.
I was really surprised.  First of all I'm sad to hear she's quitting the business.  She is really one of my fav. mangaka because I love her stories (Haru wo Daiteita, Boku no Koe, etc.) and characters. I don't care about the clothes or positions they're in on title covers and all.

But after seeing the photographic proof next to the manga illustrations I also feel disappointed.  She says she was naieve about copyrights but even if that's the case she should've known that by the tenth tracing that it's prolly not a good thing to not come up with her own ideas for covers.:( And it does irk me that she not only copied positions and sometimes clothing but items that were in the background as well.
It's really disappointing.  Esp. for me as a reader because it does sort of taint my fav. charas/series as well.

Still, I don't think she has to quit.  She issued an apology and if she really promised not to do it again, I'd be willing to give her another chance.
Unfortunately, J-land is a lot stricter than me. And it would prolly be difficult for her to find another publisher.  I think in the US, ppl would just forgive and forget but things are so much more strict here.

I just hope they don't pull everthing related to Youka Nitta off the shelves like they did with that one shoujo mangaka.:<

Yeah, I can understand her needing ideas for positions and even clothing but there's no need to copy nearly the entire picture to detail...just really makes one shake their head in disappointment. Such a waste of her good stories..>

i agree. that's... just... shocking.

getting ideas and inspiration, i understand. using refrences, i understand.

she's already established and talented. it's too bad she had to copy the ENTIRE thing D:

Oh dear, some of those are quite blatant... >_>

Yeah, I thought her quitting entirely was a bit extreme. It's sad. =.(

It really is a shame... She pulled out of her guest appearance at yaoi-con, too. I wonder if in a few years, when it dies down, she'll start writing again.

This is... not funny. :( I don't think she should quit just because of this... even though she should show some regret. Personally I would have no problems with the covers... but there were pics from the actual story, like the parfume-part in Haru.
Anyway thanks for the information!
... I just re-read your post. There was a scandal like this with a shoujo mangaka too??? You know who it was?

And I share the same opinion as you.

Take care ^^

Im completely shocked and a bit disapointed. Nitta-Sensei is one of my favouritge mangaka and this is so sad 'cause she's so talented. It's one thing to get inspiration for clothes and body positions from other works but some of her artwook are toooo blatantly copied. Why copy both postion and clothes together? Why not alter the outfits?

i don't care
i think it's too hars punishing her like that. well it's bad with copying someone works but at least she realize her mistake and i wish that's the end of it. i really like her manga. but it all stop because of this. i just hope she will come back soon and continue her work, finish what she started.

I don't really care...
I don't really care if she traced some things for the covers only, the pages in the mangas are completely NOT traced, that's what matters to me...
it's not that I'm not dissapointed when seeing it was traced, but she's not the only one who traces stuff. the internet is full of it, and I only saw REAL pictures that were traced, if she traced someone else's work then I guess I would be kinda pissed off, but tracing real pics is harder cause she had to adjust them to her manga style and stuff...

I'm not saying it's okay to trace, I'm not saying it should be forbidden either, but she should keep it at getting inspiration and not copy the whole thing.

I hope she'll get a second chance.

Re: I don't really care...
I totally agree with U >.< , she definitely should get a second chance , her stories are amazing , It makes me wanna reread them over & over again , it's not like she copied the art of another mangaka , ne? I luv her work and the art of story telling T-T
