No way....
No way...!!
This can't be! ;___;

As if Himi wasn't enough...now Asari too!!??

So I pick up this issue of Dear+ so excited to be able to see an arc about Shoui x Asari start up again but wow I never expected to cry so hard in this first chapter of the arc.  Really, my lips tremble thinking about what happened.

So you know that red thread that fell off the one that was the "horobi ga kuru made hazurenai" thread.  Well, if you remember it DID come off.   But sweet Shoui had a surprise for Asari.  He bought Asari a platinum ring with a red line that runs through the middle of it.  The ring is meant to replace the thread and he tells Asari the kotodama the one thing he couldn't say before.."Aishiteru."  Of course, Asari tells Shoui he should tell him that when he's sober...since Shoui did have a bit much to drink. Anyhow the two get into the mood and have their beautiful little H scene.

At this point I'm so happy for the couple...I love seeing them together..but little did I know this was just a setup.  A setup for more 切なさ。

Asari gets up in the middle of the night and looks out at the snowy night sky.  He looks at the ring on his finger and remembers the serious kotodama that was used to tie on the red cotton thread he had casually tied on as a joke that day many years ago. He starts to examine the ring and takes it off and looks at the inside thinking how he'll laugh if it says something cheesy like I LOVE YOU.  But little did Asari know..that the engravement would say something more moving than he could've ever imagined.

The inside of the ring read "Nise no chigiri wo chikau."  Nise no chigiri is a marriage vow. It means "I vow that even if I die, furthermore, I won't change my mind.  And vow to be with you even until the next world."  The impression on Asari's face as he thinks of how deep the words are is priceless.   He wonders what kind of face Shoui made when he ordered the engravement.  He looks over to Shoui and jokingly calls him a real idiot. But then he says "But, there's nothing more happier than this."  As he says this you see what look like sakura petals around Asari.

Asari doesn't even realize it at first, but he's crying. He only notices that he's crying when a tear falls on his hand.  He wonders what it is at first but then realizes it's tears.  He can't believe it and remembers that kami return to blank paper when they cry and he remembers about the white flower like snow of paper that flies when one returns.

Asari knows what's happening to him but doesn't want it to happen. "NOOOO...!" He exclaims.  He doesn't want to go. He doesn't want to  leave Shoui behind.  He runs to the bed where Shoui is lying asleep.    He disappears before being able to say anything or touch Shoui.  The last thing he says to himself is Shoui's name.  Shoui wakes up to a room full of white flower like petals of paper. "....Asari?" he asks.  Then he finds the ring and a ragged paper doll on the bed. it takes Shoui a second to realize what they are.  He calls for Asari again but no answer...
--end of chapter--

So what's gonna happen now???  Will Asari end up like Himi?  Will he be revived only to have lossed every memory of Shoui??  Oh man, could I love another Asari as much as this Asari??  Or will there be a twist?  Will there be some way for Shoui to get back the Asari he lossed memories included?? Oh the DRAMAAAAAAAA!!!!  I want more ZE!

Why Shimizu-sensei?  Why did you leave us with this cliffhanger??  I cried so hard.
And this month she's taking a break so no Ze. ;__;

(ahem) pardon me for leaving a reply here. im just a nobody.

did you realize how.......uh... what's that word? "used"? "tattered"? Himi's paper doll look tattered, as if it's almost his expire date.

but yes! its almost cruel! just when i get to warm up to Asari's character, now im gonna miss him so much. reading the early volumes of Ze wont be the same anymore! i wonder what does Shimizu-sensei has planned? surely she couldnt repeat Himi's arc all over again. i wonder what will Waki do to 'solve' the problem? but i doubt he'll feel any compassion cuz. i think, he's strangely 'cold' to his creations. oh, what will Shoui do?? God, i feel like crying too T__T

YES! Yes, I noticed how torn up it was, too. I should look back at the Himi chapter cuz I wanna compare. But yeah since I didn't have the Himi chapter on me at the time I couldn't tell if Asari was more torn up than a usual kami returning to hakushi would.

I've loved Asari since the beginning. Him and Shoui are always competing for the number one spot in my heart against Genma and Himi.

I hope Shoui doesn't start contemplating sui**de. He may not think he has a reason to live now.

And I can only imagine how Himi will react when he hears of what happened.

If Asari comes back without his memories, I wonder if he'll somehow get them back by some miracle...like upon seeing the ring or something...that's one of the scenarios I can think of for making it different from the genmaxhimi storyline. Already what makes it different is that Asari rejected becoming hakushi and totally didn't wanna leave Shoui behind. Whereas, Himi was more compliant and accepting since he was happy and wanted to start anew as ONLY Genma's kami. Maybe Asari's love for Shoui and the fact that he wanted to stay with him so much will make it possible for the original Asari to come back/get back his memories.

It will be kinda interesting if a new Asari has a different personality at first. How will he react to Shoui? Would he be cold??

I ache for more ZE!! ;__;

Hi, I'm glad to find a fellow ZE fan, too!! Can I friend you? It's so frustrating that most English readers are left in the dark with the awesomeness of ZE!!!

Actually, I'm rather relieved to learn that there's no ZE this month. I've been checking and checking in vain. Now I know I just have to wait till next month. Thanks.

Let's hope Shoui's powers are strong enough to bind Asari to come back to him in his second life. The ring must mean something and will have some effect. From the beginning, we knew this pair had been battling their sad fate. The end was near...

Although, if you think about it, all kami have to face their masters' deaths. That didn't seem as traumatic to them as to humans losing their kami... Humans would kept hoping for the kami to come back, but not the other way around... (yet). They accept the fate more, I guess. Humans just can't come back to life like that.

I think it was mentioned earlier that there isn't much essence of Asari left in Waki's drawers, either... That actually might be the biggest problem. If there's not even a way to make a second Asari... It's over! T_T

Anyway, I look forward to the new chapters, too. All must worship Shimizu-sensei!

Thank you Thank you so much for the translation/summary!

I saw the raw and even though I could not understand the words just looking at the pictures it made me cry. I also noticed that the doll was very used up, and I think Himi's was kind of new, problably because his previuos master (I forgot his name) did not use him.

Asari's doll is probably "in bad shape" because he had to take a lot of damage from every time that Shoui's grandfather used kotodama, back in the beginning Asari wanted to leave Shoui because he could not heal him properly, so is it possible that he was reaching "his expiration date" in terms of healing properties and that is shown in how battered the doll is.

No problem.^^

I'm just glad to be able to have people to discuss the series with!
I loved all the different expressions Asari had in this chapter.

Yeah, I think Asari's lived for quite a while and as Shoui's grandfather's kami did take up quite a beating. I felt bad for Asari when he couldn't heal Shoui properly. Maybe new Asari will be happier assuming his healing properties will be renewed and he'll be able to better serve Shoui.

*skips spoilers*

But uh... based on what you wrote outside the cut, don't tell me Asari became a hakushi too..............

That I did not want to read. .T____T

Oh, and don't tell me if I was right or wrong. =.x
